I lit a fire for the first time this autumn last night and it was lovely to hear the crackle of the flames and feel the comforting heat radiating through the lounge. This time of year is beautiful and challenging at the same time as it's difficult to let go of the heat of the summer and admit that Christmas is around the corner. There is no sense in hanging on to something that you can't change, however I have been struggling with letting go of things that I DO have control over. I did another portfolio cull this morning and tweezed out everything that gave me the 'niggles'. I also accidentally deleted a lot too and so I think that fate guided my hand to help me clean up! It's a bit weird looking backwards and looking into the future simultaneously as I've been developing some Xmas cards. I found it quite difficult to get into the vibe of the season though before it's actually here, but I'm pretty happy with what I created. It's really exciting having a stall at Sennen Market though as it is really great to be able to see people's reactions. It's also really empowering to be able to create my own products and get them into the real world. I'm learning a lot through this process and it's giving me a more discerning eye and a greater awareness of what a professional practice is all about. It's a great way to gain experience and I hope that it will enable me to license work in the future.
Yep, seasons are changing and I'm lighting fires. It's natural to have to let go to some things and make way for the new, but it's warm and cosy right now and I really appreciate where I am.
