It was only supposed to be a short walk, but the heat made it pretty challenging for us. Well, you would expect a honeymoon to be pretty good, but this was totally amazing. We lived out so many dreams that we have had for many years. Big Sur We drove from our base in Ojai, up through Big Sur to San Francisco. The journey took a few days as we camped on the way. At night we listened to the sound of coyotes calling to each and watched as a racoon stealthily cased out the camp. We did a fair bit of surf homage too, stopping at Rincon and driving through Half Moon Bay (Mavericks) on the fourth of July. There were dogs wearing bandanas and people dressed up in all sorts of fancy clothing. It made it tricky to get anywhere but it was great to see a piece of American tradition playing out in front of us. San Francisco was a blast. You can't do a city in such a short time, but we were down on the Fishermans Wharf for the 4th of the July and experienced the full throng of the cities craziness. It took a while to get fed that night,(we must have tried to sit down at about five different places - all with a 45 minute wait) but it was pretty good when we did. We had some awesome chowder and I enjoyed a glass of red wine whilst thinking about Sideways and Bottles Shock. Pretty much everyone was out that night and it was one big pot of crazy cool. We glided and bumped back to our hotel on a cable car whilst watching the fireworks go off. Spectacular. I loved staying at the Mosser! Fucking awesome hotel. Such a welcome break in between camping and well who doesn't like free soap and Green Tea pills to get you through the next day! For sheer breathtaking beauty though we were blown away by Yosemite. I never imagined anything could be so drawdroppingly awe inspiring. Every corner produced another stunning view that looked as though someone had carefully structured it just for affect. We both swam in the Emerald Pool at the top of Vernal Falls and that was one of the most serene moments ever. There is something about the view that you get when you are in the water that feels special - like you are seeing something not ordinarily seen.
