A corner of my home

I wanted to welcome you to my home! Come in please! Don't worry about the dogs, they soon settle down...

Well, I thought you might like a little guided tour. I was inspired by Apartment Therapy to start thinking about vignettes, which as far as I'm concerned means a group of objects.

Now, I'm not an interior designer! Don't judge me too much on my style. I live in a really small cottage and the most important thing is that it's functional first and pretty second.

I'm very much from the William Morris school of thought that things should ideally be functionally and aesthetically pleasing.

I don't collect things, but I keep things that have memories. So here are a few memories.

This area is part of the kitchen/lounge and it's the only space that the fruit bowl will fit. The picture is of the first dog, Cookie, that me and my husband had together and she was an absolute beauty.

Sadly she passed away when she was only eight, but she was very loved and had an amazing life with us in Cornwall, chasing birds on the beach and getting lots of cuddles.

The lei was given to us by a dear friend, who actually officiated our wedding! He made us real leis on the day which were really beautiful and thoughtful.

The Russian doll was bought on holiday in Poland, which is where my dad lives! It brings back memories of snow and some artisan hot chocolate.

This is the other end of the shelf and is full of holiday photos. We did a house swap to Brooklyn and had an amazing week in New York. I proposed to Darren in a little restaurant called 'Two Boots' whilst nervously sipping a pink cocktail.

Our honeymoon was in California where we spent an amazing month travelling as much as possible. We went horse riding in Ojai, bathed in hot springs, went surfing, and then camped out way up the coast. We stayed overnight in San Francisco and then spent an incredible couple of days in Yosemite.

It was an amazing adventure!

Anyway, that's probably enough tales for now! I will carry on the house tour another time. Hope to see you again soon!
