The Shopkeeper's Apology

This year, begins with me drawing and I am really excited about it!

Last year I created a fairy a day, for 100 days and so when I thought about illustrating a children's book, I thought 'no problem'. Drawing a fairy day was an outlet for me, it was fun and it was pure experimentation.

Now however, I need to hone my skills and to be able to develop characters. I also need to create another world and different settings and backgrounds and I have discovered that one picture is taking closer to a week for me to finish, rather than one day!

My main concern is that I am happy with the final piece though. Sure I have a deadline and of course I'm going to work my hardest to hit it, but I want to do justice to the beautiful story written by Theraysa Gapasin.

So this year starts with me passionate about creating my best work and developing a portfolio that will lead to more magical projects.

I'm still working on my Procreate on my IPad, although after listening to Will Terry on YouTube (he likened using an iPad to illustrate a children's book to digging a swimming pool with a teaspoon!) I am yearning for an iPad Pro. It's great to know that there are things out there that might make my life easier, but for now I will use the tools I have and be grateful for them!

Last year my old iPad couldn't cope with the amount of work I was creating and so my Mum bought me an upgraded version for an early Chrristmas present. This enabled me to finish the 100 day project and also to produce my first book. The great thing is that it works for me and I am in love with working digitally.


I look for opportunities to work on my drawings all the time! Of course Tabitha comes first, but I look forward to when she sleeps so that I can make some real progress.


My deadline is the end of March and so this will be my world until then!
